Linkages between Heat Parameters and Health Outcomes.
Participants
in this group cited the need for medical data, and improved
understanding of the relationship between heat parameters and
medical interventions. Particular information needs included
valid biomarkers for heat illness, data on location- and time-
specific health-outcomes, and analyses to correlate heat-related
illness and death data with co-morbidities, such as infection,
dementia, and renal failure. They recommended that climate-
health analyses focus on co-occurrences of power outages during
extreme heat events, and data on medical visits related to outdoor
temperatures, relative humidity, and heat index values.
